In this era of surging globalization, China's economy has also entered a phase of high-quality development. International market demands are becoming increasingly diversified, and while continuously enhancing their core competitiveness, enterprises are actively seeking broader growth space and added value. Facing the historic opportunities presented by global energy transition and the reshaping of industrial chain structures, China's power equipment industry is shifting from "scale expansion" to "value creation," and from "product export" to "brand globalization."

As a leading enterprise in China's power equipment industry, BPG is accelerating its internationalization strategy, leveraging 45 years of technical expertise. In the journey of expanding overseas and forging a mutually beneficial ecosystem, BPG is pioneering a sustainable development path to realize its vision of becoming "Centennial BPG, worldwide BPG."

Expanding Horizons: Embarking on a Global Expedition

Nanjing Electric Technology Group (hereinafter referred to as "Nanjing Electric"), a subsidiary of BPG, embarked on its international journey at an early stage. As China's first HV electrical porcelain factory in the history of the electronic industry, its "LD" brand electrical porcelain products achieved their first overseas export as early as the 1960s. With over six decades of export history, Nanjing Electric has witnessed and participated in the entire process of New China's industrial development and the export of power products.

Following a period of capacity expansion, Nanjing Electric has accelerated its internationalization efforts. In 2018, the company established its Overseas Business Division. To date, its key products have been exported to five continents worldwide, securing contracts in over 120 countries and regions, including Portugal, Italy, Ireland, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, South Africa, India, Kazakhstan, Brazil, Chile, Bolivia, Mexico, and various Southeast Asian nations. The product range encompasses glass insulators, composite insulators, HV bushings, and more, contributing to critical projects in the global power market.

Behind its global expansion lies absolute confidence in its own technology. Over the years, Nanjing Electric has continuously advanced through improvements in raw material formulations and processes, successfully developing 550 kN and 840 kN AC/DC glass insulators whose overall technical performance matches or exceeds leading international standards. Additionally, the self-explosion rate of its products in the line can be controlled at 0.01% or lower, with a maximum service life exceeding 50 years—a standard achieved by fewer than three companies worldwide. It is precisely through such industry-leading core technologies and service capabilities that Nanjing Electric has steadily gained recognition in the global energy sector, establishing itself as an indispensable technical partner in the worldwide energy transition.

During the same period, several subsidiaries and affiliated companies of BPG also embarked on their internationalization journeys. The Zhejiang Shaoxing production base developed 220 kV transformer products capable of operating at altitudes up to 5,500 meters, maintaining a successful application record of over 10 years. This laid a solid foundation for expanding into the global market, with products entering 51 countries and regions, including Argentina, Germany, Spain, Tajikistan, Jordan, Indonesia, and South Africa. The Guilin production base, honored three times with the National Award for Science and Technology Progress, leveraged its robust capabilities to produce and sell over 3.5 million units (sets) of various capacitor products globally. The Beijing International Engineering Center focused on the development and implementation of international EPC projects, as well as overseas business related to BPG’s product chains. This effort drove the "going global" strategy for the broader BPG ecosystem. To date, the center has successfully completed projects such as the 132 kV substation equipment integration for a heavy oil power plant in Bangladesh, agricultural grid submarine cable and distribution network line projects in Uganda, and the RCT cascade hydropower station project in Uzbekistan, contributing to the power grid development in Belt and Road Initiative countries.

Seizing Opportunities to Share the Global Journey of Chinese Enterprises

With years of overseas trade experience, BPG recognizes that product export is only the starting point of corporate globalization. Connecting global resources and integrating into international markets represent a more strategic approach to "going global."

On one hand, the state has strongly supported enterprises in expanding overseas, introducing a series of policies to help them deeply engage in global competition. During this year's National Two Sessions, Premier of the State Council Li Qiang outlined the government's key tasks for the year, listing "expanding high-level opening-up and actively stabilizing foreign investment and trade" as a major priority. The robust support from national policies has made global expansion one of the most certain opportunities for enterprises to navigate uncertainty.

On the other hand, a new cycle in overseas power infrastructure construction has begun. Against the backdrop of AI industry trends and energy transition, global electricity demand continues to grow. However, overseas competition in this field is still dominated by European and American companies, with China's market share for some products estimated at less than 5%. This phased mismatch between supply and demand abroad presents an opportunity for Chinese manufacturers to showcase the competitive advantages of a manufacturing powerhouse.

Since 2024, BPG has intensified its efforts by prioritizing internationalization as a key strategic task, accelerating its global expansion. Guided by the principle of "Balanced Centralization & Localization, Phased & Gradual Implementation, Product-First Prioritization, Local Adaptation", BPG has progressively developed tailored market-entry strategies for different regions. While promoting high-quality products overseas, it is also exploring diverse models such as local agents, overseas offices, joint ventures, and local production bases. By fully integrating domestic strengths with local market needs, the Group is achieving a new leap from "exporting" to "going global."

Over the past year, BPG has expanded its global footprint across regions including North America, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. BPG has also achieved continuous breakthroughs in international projects: its flexible DC transmission products entered the Saudi market for the first time, securing a contract worth USD 254 million; BPG’s glass insulators broke the monopoly of European and American companies in the Middle Eastern market, winning its first project in the region with a total value of tens of millions of USD; it was awarded a glass insulator and hardware (metal fittings) project in Pakistan, with a contract value of RMB 150 million.

Last year, the joint venture company in Malaysia was officially established, marking the strategic foothold of BPG in the Southeast Asian market. Moving forward, BPG and its subsidiaries will, through localized operations, introduce Chinese technological standards and industrial chain models to the region.
