On the morning of June 16, Professor Zhang Tiejun, Vice Dean of the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences at Khalifa University and Member of the UAE Academy of Sciences, led a delegation to BPG Nanjing Electric for a research visit. The delegation was warmly received and accompanied by senior executives including Hu Dezhao, Chairman of Baiyun Electric Equipment Co., Ltd (BYE); Ye Tao, Vice President; Shen Qirong, Deputy General Manager of Baiyun Power Group(BPG) and General Manager of Nanjing Electric Technology Group(Technology Group); Yao Hanqing, General Manager of Nanjing Electric Power Engineering Co., Ltd; Deng Junwen, Deputy General Manager of Technology Group and the Party Branch Secretary; Chen Xiongqing, Deputy General Manager of Technology Group and General Manager of Nanjing Electric High Voltage Bushing Co., Ltd; and Xia Xudong, Deputy General Manager of Technology Group and Executive Vice President of Nanjing Eelectric Insulator Co., Ltd. The two sides held in-depth exchanges and discussions on topics including deepening international innovation cooperation in the power industry, facilitating the introduction of international resources, and promoting the export of high-quality Chinese power equipment and technologies.
During the research visit, Shen Qirong provided a detailed introduction to the development history, core businesses, and technological R&D capabilities of BPG and Nanjing Electric, as well as their innovative achievements in fields such as smart grids, renewable energy integration, and high-end power transmission and distribution equipment. He emphasized the company's recent practices and experience in implementing international strategic planning, participating in major global projects, and promoting the "going global" of Chinese standards. From the perspectives of market expansion, product development, and international cooperation models, he shared specific measures and plans adopted by the company in responding to the global energy transition and supporting power infrastructure construction in countries along the Belt and Road Initiative.
Zhang Tiejun spoke highly of Nanjing Electric's achievements in power equipment manufacturing and its forward-looking global vision. He introduced Khalifa University's robust capabilities in engineering and energy technology research, its extensive network of international partnerships, as well as the significant demand and market potential in the UAE and the broader Middle East and North Africa region for energy transition, grid modernization, and smart city development. Zhang emphasized that, as a top-tier research university in the UAE, Khalifa University possesses the advantage of connecting with world-class scientific resources and corporate networks, and expressed his expectation to establish in-depth cooperation with leading Chinese power industry enterprises such as BPG and Nanjing Electric.

Zhang Tiejun stated that Nanjing Electric's highly reliable and high-performance power equipment products, such as glass insulators and HV bushings, align well with the urgent needs of regions like the Middle East for grid upgrades and stable power supply. Khalifa University could leverage its influence in the Gulf and surrounding areas to assist Nanjing Electric in connecting with local government agencies, major energy enterprises, and project resources, thereby providing strong support for Nanjing Electric to gain an in-depth understanding of target market demands and implement precise strategic planning. Additionally, possibilities were discussed regarding utilizing the university's platform to promote the international adoption of Nanjing Electric's product technical standards and to explore in-depth cooperation in the field of aerogel.
Chairman Hu Dezhao emphasized that Nanjing, as the geographical center and transportation hub of the Yangtze River Delta region, benefits from a dense cluster of universities and abundant talent supply. Deepening cooperation with top international institutions like Khalifa University represents a critical strategic pathway for enterprises to accelerate internationalization and enhance global competitiveness.
